DABISK

Dabisk is a single-player roguelike deckbuilder played with Neapolitan cards. You play briscola chiamata against the table, and every trick becomes Points × Mult: you need enough of them to pay the Innkeeper's Conto.

Every Night has three Conti: the First Conto, the Second Conto and the Innkeeper's, where a figure from folklore sits down at the table. A Conto lasts at most four rounds, with a shrinking hand: four cards, then three, two, and finally just one. Pay the Conto and you go to the Bottega; fail and the run is over. You win on the tenth Night.

Before playing you declare how many tricks you will take. Hit it and your Word of Honour multiplies the score. Miss it and you lose notches of Credit: you have four, and when they run out the Innkeeper stops trusting you.

Punti × MultPoints × Mult

I Punti sono quelli veri della briscola, di tutte le carte della presa: Points are real briscola points, from every card in the trick:

AssoAce11
TreThree10
ReKing4
CavalloKnight3
FanteJack2
2, 4, 5, 6, 70

But careful: here, within a suit, cards rank by number. The Ace is worth 11 points and is the lowest card of its suit. Between suits the hierarchy decides: Coins, Cups, Swords, Clubs. Mult comes from the suit, the santini, the liquori and the call.

Santini

In the Bottega you buy santini: over a hundred holy cards to line up on the table, each with a rule of its own. One alone bends the game; three in the right order break it.

Liquori e GradiLiquori and Gradi

A dodici Gradi è Blackout. Italian amari and spirits bend the rules for a round, but raise your Gradi. Every Grado adds Mult, and every threshold takes something away: Tipsy reshuffles the suits, Drunk unsorts your hand, Sozzled sometimes plays the wrong card. At twelve Gradi it's Blackout.

Chi si siede al tavoloWho sits at the table

There are dozens of them, and some only show up after you win.

Winning unlocks new Rules, decks that change how you play, and for each of them ever higher stakes. A run lasts between forty minutes and an hour.
